Events

Stadspark Live

This Saturday, the first edition of the festival Stadspark Live will take place. In the middle of Stadspark, there will be a big festival terrain where artists like Sting, Tom Odell, Anouk and many more will perform. Next, to the musical acts and culinary food trucks, there will also be comedians like the infamous political satirist (and native Groninger!) Arjen Lubach.

Harry Potter Pub Quiz

Are you the ultimate Harry Potter fan who has read all the books and watched all of the movies so many times you lost count? Then maybe the Harry Potter Pub Quiz is something for you. This Friday, Lust will be organizing the pub quiz for a night of Harry Potter trivia (book and movie trivia).

Hooghoudt Summer Vibes

The restaurant Hooghoudt will be taking over the rooftop bar of Schimmelpennick Huys to celebrate summer vibes by means of cocktails, snacks, live music, BBQ and sunshine.

♢ BEACH, please!!! ♢ Chill Edition

Nachos, drinks and great weather? Beach, please.  After a stressful exam week, gather some friends and have a chill Friday night at RebelRebel Hostel to reward yourself for your hard work. Sounds like a good way to start the weekend, so you’ll be able to find me there.

Event about housing for international students in Groningen

On Friday there will be an event about student housing in Groningen. There will be housing organizations present at the event explaining who they are and what they do, and will also be there to answer any questions you might have about student housing in Groningen. You’ll also have the opportunity to talk to other students and hear their housing stories or exchange tips on housing.

Formed/Unformed Graduation Show 2019

The art school, Academie Minerva, will be hosting their graduation show this Saturday at The Former Sugar Factory. The bachelor students of the Minerva Academie and the master students for the Frank Mohr will be putting a show together, combining all the art skills they have learned in their studies. The event promises an exhibition in which disciplines merge and the boundaries of what we think is normal are explored.

Monthly Salsa Night at COPAS

Summer means warm weather and long nights, which is a great time to learn how to salsa. While you might think that you look like a walking log when attempting to dance, these people will make it look good. This Friday there will be a Traditional Bachata Workshop, a dance that originates from the Dominican Republic. So if you’re too broke to go on vacation, maybe you can attend this event and pretend you are in the Dominican Republic.

Shows in Vera

Want to discover new music in a very alternative way? This weekend there will be various shows in Vera of bands you’ve probably never heard of, but could possibly be very good. On Saturday both FEELS + Drahla and Downstage: The Kaak + The Drugs will be performing. They both describe themselves as being punk, so if you are feeling punky, go check them out.

Next, to all of these events, summer officially begins this weekend! Friday is the Summer celestial, which means it’s the longest day of the year, with almost 17 hours of daylight. How will you be starting off your summer? Let us know in the comments below!
