Events:

ESN International Dinner

The fourth edition of the ESN international dinner will be hosted this Sunday. This edition will be themed “French”, and the event will be lead by French students who will cook a traditional French three course meal. A great opportunity to meet new fellow international students and enjoy some home cooked French cuisine.

Batavierenrace

This weekend (Friday-Saturday), the 47th edition of the Batavierenrace will be taking place, which is a 175 km long running race, that starts in Nijmegen and ends in Enschede. Countless numbers of student associations and committees from around the country will participate. Afterwards there will be a big party hosted in Enschede. While this isn’t an event happening in Groningen, it certainly is one worth being mentioned for students.

The World We Live In

Coming sunday, the students of the Prince Claus Conservatorium are organising a festival called “The World We Live In”. The aim of the event is to use movement to bring people together while bringing attention to world problems like conflict, displacement, violations of human rights, migration, animal cruelty and ecological crisis. With many artists and musicians from Groningen and abroad, the event promises to be a fun and eye opening day.

Stekjes Ruil Markt (plant trade) - LETS GO GREEN

If you’re tired of looking at the same plants every day, on Saturday there will be a plant trade, for small plants like succulents and cacti. “Stekjes” translates to a plant cutting, which is a small plant. For every plant you bring, you can trade it for another one. There will also be little vegetable plants for sale.

Mother’s Day

Sunday is Mother’s Day! While some people might go home to visit their mothers, there are most likely a lot of you who will be staying home in Groningen. Even without being with your mother psychically - you can still celebrate (and benefit from the extra events!). EM2 will be hosting an extensive Mother’s Day High Tea and in Paterswolde there will be a Brunch to the Beat which is rumored to include good music and champagne.

Music

For the music lovers, there are enough little concerts to attend this weekend, a great opportunity to discover new music and new artists. In the Oosterpoort, RONDÉ will be performing, The First Wolf in Vera and DOT Dome Cinema will be presenting Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.
