CatVideoFest 2019

As of lately, Groningen seems to be obsessed with cats… (cough cough, Doerak ). That’s why this year’s CatVideoFest falls at exactly the right time: World Cat Day! If you too can’t stop watching cat videos on Instagram, then head on over to the Forum and enjoy a wonderful selection of cat videos that will literally make you melt and say “aww”. Even better, part of the earnings will go to a cat shelter in Groningen, to ensure the cats’ care and welfare.

Zpannend Zernike at DOT DOME Cinema: Exploring Exoplanets

What better way to celebrate the National Weekend of Science than to journey through the world of exoplanets during a live planetarium show?  This Saturday, DOT will be open for everyone to enjoy the show Zpannend Zernike at DOT DOME Cinema: Exploring Exoplanets , a collaboration between the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute and DOT DOME Cinema. If you’re into science, or even if you’re not, this event welcomes everyone for what is sure to be an experience that is out of this world, literally. In case you are looking for something more down to earth (and less puns), make sure to also check out all the other exciting Zpannend Zernike events taking place this weekend!

Clothing Swap

Have you ever rummaged through your closet just to find a piece of clothing that you’ve only used maybe once or twice? If so, don’t feel guilty. It happens to the best of us. Rather than throwing it away, give your clothes a second chance and trade them for new ones in exchange! This weekend, take any extra clothing that you have to this Clothing Swap, (but make sure they’re clean, nobody wants your smelly pants). You can bring as many pieces as you want, and leave with as many as you can! Really, who says no to free clothes? Bonus: swapping and recycling clothes is a sustainable practice, so you can proudly contribute to the environment while you strut your new outfit through the streets. It’s a win-win.

Popronde

This Thursday evening, Popronde will bring 40+ artists to Groningen for the biggest travelling festival in the Netherlands. Here’s the best part: it’s all free! The performances will happen at several locations across the city, so keep an eye open and pop by as many as you can. Plus, for all of you night owls, the festival concludes with an afterparty at Vera so that you can keep on enjoying the music all night. You can find a breakdown of all artists, genres, and locations in this timetable

Wine Festival Groningen 2019

If you’re one of those people that have posted a picture with the caption “It’s wine o'clock!”, then you must attend this event. If you’re not one of those people, but you still love wine, then you also must attend this event. The 4th edition of this wine festival will take place at the Aa-Kerk, and will offer a wonderful selection of wines and foods that are guaranteed to make you feel extra fancy. Cheers!
