Ahhh it’s Christmas time! While the sweet scent of cinnamon and Christmas cookies hangs over cold streets covered in fairy lights, many Groningen students are home for their well deserved holidays. However, Christmas can be quite different as a student, especially if you are not used to living at home anymore. Check out this blog post to find some of the typical stages everyone goes through when going back home for the holidays. Can you relate?

1. That feeling when you walk out of your last lecture before the holidays and get ready to finally leave...

2. ...but you quickly realize that you are definitely not the only one traveling home for Christmas

3. Once you make it back home again, you immediately realize that this is a good life…

4. ...and you wonder how you have been able to survive on pasta and dominos for that long.

5. Of course, there are also lots and lots of presents, which makes you feel 12 again…

6. ...and you get to see your entire family!

7. Oh, and don’t forget about all of your old school friends that you get to see again…

8. Admittedly, after a few weeks at home, you actually realize why you can’t live with your parents anymore…

9. ...but deep down you know how much you are going to miss them (and the food).

10. Yet leaving your parents home is bitter-sweet as you also can’t wait to reunite with all of your friends back in Groningen after a few weeks!

Relatable?
