Nothing to do this weekend? We’ve rounded up the events in Groningen on the 24th, 25th and 26th of November.

Get a new perspective at Documentary Festival (IDFA)

This weekend, the Forum hosts the International Documentary Festival IDFA. The famous documentary “An Inconvenient Truth 2” by Al Gore will play every day, but the programme is filled with other docs too, with subjects ranging from artists to “Human flow”, a stunning film on the global refugee crisis. From next Thursday onward, you can see the first entirely painted movie “Loving Vincent” (done in the famous style of van Gogh) in the Forum. The festival will end on Sunday.

Skate (or try to) at Groningen on Ice

Groningen on Ice” is back, the ice skating rink that I’m sure you’ve noticed taking up half of the Grote Markt. Don’t be put off if you’ve never skated before either. You can rent skates at the venue and with the help of a chair, you'll learn in no time.

DOT Live: Sunday

On Sunday afternoon (the perfect - and most necessary - time to relax), they are hosting their monthly event: Singer Songwriter Sunday. Three acoustic acts will perform a mixture of covers and their own music. Perhaps you know the artists already but most likely you don’t, so I’ve done some research for you and found a few nice songs from the artists due to perform. Enjoy!

Christmas Markets

Christmas is my favourite time of year. What better way to kick off the festive season than with a trip to the Christmas markets here in Groningen? Starting this weekend, they'll pop-up throughout the province.

Party plans & party picks

This weekend, Paradigm is back in Groningen. Paradigm offers has a stubborn vision on electronic music and visual arts in all its possible shapes. Paradigm brings a very diverse supply of artists from various niches and techno together during the club nights.

After the big success last time, the Oost Clubnight Special is back this weekend. Local techno DJ’s and a free entry will make for an epic night for every techno lover in Groningen.

Saturday Night Fever MartiniPlaza

Looking to (re)live the party days of old? This weekend Saturday Night Fever XXL is hosted in the Martiniplaza, Channel your inner John Travolta, “dress to glitter” and enjoy a night full of disco. If you look ridiculous, share your photo with me on Instagram.

Live Music Night ESN

On November 30, the ESN organizes their next Live Music Night, featuring 38 artists and more than 350 party-goers attending. Tickets are €5 at the door, but be on time because it’s first come, first serve.

Alright, hope you guys have a great weekend. Did we miss any events or do you have tips for next week?  Leave a comment to let us know.
