5 Phrases to Help Achieve a “New semester, new me” mindset (with Gifs!)

The countdown is on. Some people still have exams or assignments to submit, and others don’t. Some are starting a new Master's while others are just gearing up for the joys of semester 2. But fear not! With the new semester comes the new us. People say the new year is the time for ‘New Year Resolutions’, I say, bah humbug, the new year begins with a new semester.
In this blog, I will explore some fun phrases you can say to help enter the new semester as the best version of you!
1. “I will lock in”

I say this every semester. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. However, you must remember that it is all in the mindset! So if you believe it, it will happen!!
2. “I will form a study group”

This is actually so helpful. I always struggle with staying focused, but if you find a good group of people who will keep you accountable, then you are set!
3. “I will read the syllabus before classes begin”

You would be surprised how many people don’t do this. It is the best way to stay on top of everything coming up. Reading the syllabus allows you to prepare yourself for the workload. Nothing will shock you during that first introductory lecture!
4. “I will not procrastinate”

This relates to individual work as well as group assignments. Make sure to set internal deadlines so that you are not falling behind. This is especially important for group projects, you don’t want to be the weak link!
5. “I will ask all my questions”

If you are like me, you may hate to ask questions in lectures or seminars. That’s understandable; however, your lectures and professors are here to help you. If you don’t ask questions, they won’t know where you could benefit from more explanation until it is too late (i.e. while grading your exam).
Good luck in Semester 2!
