How to choose a Bachelor's Degree

With more than 45 bachelor’s and 160 master’s programmes, the University of Groningen gives you plenty of options. But how do you figure out which programme fits you best, and sets you up for a great future? Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you.

Ask yourself the right questions

Start with you. Which school subjects excite you most? Where do you naturally do well? Think beyond the classroom too: what hobbies or activities energise you? What are your strengths, and what skills would you like to develop further? Answering these questions helps you spot the fields of study that are a good match.

Define your criteria

What would your ideal study experience look like? Small seminars or big lectures? More independent work or structured classes? Once you’ve set your personal criteria, explore the English-taught programmes in our 11 faculties. You can also meet us at international fairs, where staff and students are ready to answer questions and guide you through the application process. Can’t attend in person? Our Virtual UG platform is always open for you.

Explore your options

Check the practical details: admission requirements, application deadlines, and language tests. If you already have a programme in mind, use Ocasys to dive into the course descriptions. And don’t just read about it, experience it:
