    LLB in International and European Law
    • TOEFL (iBT*) score of at least 100, all sections sufficient (so at least 21 on each section) to be sent in through our institutional code 7191
    • IELTS Academic (British Council's English Language Test): score of at least 7.0, all sections sufficient (so at least 6.0 on each section)
    • CPE, Cambridge C2 Proficiency
    • CAE, Cambridge C1 Advanced
      Students are exempted from proving proficiency in English if they are a native speaker and have completed secondary education or have already completed a bachelor programme in one of the following countries: USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia.
      IB students
    Students that obtained their international Baccalaureate diploma from a school of which the sole medium of instruction is English can be exempted from taking an English proficiency test as mentioned above. Alternatively, students that have passed Higher Level English (first language) can also be exempted from taking an English proficiency test as mentioned above. If students have passed English at Standard level, they will have to have scored at least 5 (out of 7) points on English to be considered for exemption. On top of that, their total IB-score should be 35. Students that have taken English B (at Standard level) have to present an English proficiency test score in all cases.

    EB students
    Students that have obtained their European Baccalaureate diploma with English as a final exam subject can be exempted from taking an English proficiency test as mentioned above.

    IGCSE students
    Students that have passed a sufficient number of A-levels, one of which is 'English', can be exempted from taking an English proficiency test as mentioned above.

    Please note that certain exemptions* from the above-mentioned requirements may apply in the following cases:
    • When native English speakers have completed their entire secondary education or Bachelor's degree in one of the following countries: USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada (English secondary education);
    • Applicants with at least 3 GCE A2-level certificates from an accredited British examination board;
    • Applicants with an IB diploma, with English as the medium of instruction;
    • Applicants with an EB diploma, with English as final exam subject from a European School or one of the Accredited European Schools;
    • Applicants with a Dutch VWO diploma and a 7 or higher in English;
    • Applicants with a German Abitur Diploma and a 10 or higher for the English Kurs.

    * Exemptions are granted at the discretion of the Admissions Office.


  • University College Fryslân

    Additional exemption possibility
    - Minimum final grade of 7 for the English course for the Dutch VWO diploma
    - Minimum final grade of 10 for the English course at Leistungskurs (LK) / erhöhtem Anforderingsniveau (eA) for the German Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (however, please note that taking an English language proficiency test meeting the minimum requirements for this programme is strongly recommended)
