Transcribe with Whisper and Process with LLM

Do you record interviews, meetings, or lectures and then spend hours writing out what was said? Whisper is a free, powerful AI tool that automatically converts spoken audio to written text. This workshop will show you how to use it safely and effectively. On top of that, you will learn to process those transcriptions into useful outputs, such as meeting notes and summaries, using chatbots like Mistral.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is for everyone who works with audio recordings and wants to save time on transcription and processing. No technical background is required, but basic familiarity with chatbots is helpful.

Content

This workshop covers the process from recording your audio to turning it into useful documents. The workshop will cover the following topics:

✅ How to safely record audio
✅ How to transcribe audio using Whisper on the Habrok computing system
✅ How to enable and work with speaker identification (“who said what in a recording”)
✅ Processing transcriptions using chatbots (with agents). For example: generating meeting minutes.

The first hour of the workshop will be a presentation with a demo and a discussion session. The remaining three hours will be dedicated to hands-on learning, during which you will experiment with Whisper and Mistral Le Chat. During this session, you will explore the various features of these AI tools and learn how to apply them to tasks relevant to your work.

(Additionally, you are welcome to attend with a question that you may already need help with, and we can provide assistance during the hands-on session!)

Preparation

• In order to participate you need a Habrok account. You can request a Habrok account here.
• You also need access to a Mistral account (Free or Enterprise).
• It is recommended that you bring an audio recording and an example of your desired output (e.g., previous meeting notes).
• It is recommended that you bring your own laptop. If you do not have a laptop, please contact t.j.van.mourik@rug.nl so we can arrange one for you.

Enrollment and fee

Attendance is free for UG staff and PhD-students, but registration is required.
