Mistral Vibe Workshop
Increasingly often, privacy concerns stop users from using AI tools for many tasks, such as getting feedback on a personal email, summarizing a sensitive document, or getting a ToDo list from the transcript of an internal meeting.
In this workshop, we will get you acquainted with the European-based Mistral Vibe, which complies with GDPR (AVG in Dutch) and keeps your data on the continent. Mistral Vibe offers a wide range of tools, including a chatbot, image generator and web search. This course provides an overview of all these features, helping you understand how they can be used effectively in your work or studies.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is for staff, researchers, teachers, and other professionals who want to start using Mistral Vibe and anyone wishing to develop general AI literacy.
Content
During the workshop, we will discuss your current AI usage and experiences, the pitfalls and precautionary measures of using Artificial Intelligence, as well as the inner workings of large language models (LLM's). We will also provide an insight into the advantages of Mistral Vibe over other non-EU based AI tools and what kinds of data are allowed to be uploaded to Mistral Vibe. Afterwards we will host a hands-on session in which we help you explore the features of Mistral Vibe independently.
What do you learn?
In this hands-on session, you will learn:
✅ The pitfalls of LLM's based on how they work
✅ The privacy risks of AI
✅ The potential and limitations of AI
✅ Whether or not your data allows the use of Mistral Vibe
✅ The Libraries, Memories, Instructions, Agents, Projects, Canvas, Web Search, Code Interpreter and/or Image Generation functionalities of Mistral Vibe
✅ Tips on writing effective prompts
Preparation
There are no prerequisites for this workshop. It is recommended that you bring your own laptop. If you do not have a laptop, we will provide one for you.
If you do not have a Mistral Vibe account yet, create one for free at https://chat.mistral.ai/chat. If you are part of the UG, use your UG email account details.
Please be aware that the accessible functionalities of Vibe differ based on whether you are using a free version of Mistral or if you have a licence. If you are part of the UG, your faculty/service might have access to spare licences, which you can request at Iris, the UG's IT Portal.
Result
By the end of this workshop, you will understand the potential and limitations of AI tools and be equipped with practical skills to use them in your work. This workshop is designed to engage participants actively, with opportunities for collaborative exploration and plenty of time to ask questions and get feedback.
Enrollment and fee
Attendance is free for UG staff and PhD-students, but registration is required.
Disclaimer
Mistral Vibe licences are not distributed during the workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to familiarize attendees with the different features of Mistral Vibe. Requesting a UG Mistral Vibe licence is a process independent to the workshop.
After requesting a Mistral Vibe licence, you will be asked to prove AI literacy. This can be either be done by completing the Online Critical AI Literacy Module or by attending this Mistral Vibe workshop.
At the workshop, a QR code will be presented. Scanning this QR code provides proof of AI literacy. This proof is needed to complete your application process for the Mistral Vibe licence. The activation of your license is not done automatically however and this will likely not be processed within the time of the workshop. As a result, during the hands-on session of the workshop, you will use the free version of Mistral Vibe with limited features, unless you have already obtained a Mistral Vibe licence previously.
