First online Fireside Chat
Classes are not the only thing that have moved online, where possible, we also strive to continue with the extracurricular events that characterise the UCF community. In last week's first online edition of the Fireside Chats, UCF students had the chance to discuss the geo-political impact of COVID-19 with former Secretary General of NATO, prof. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer. In an intimate and highly interactive session, students engaged in a discussion that covered a range of topics: from the transformation of leadership and diplomacy to the ongoing rivalry between China and the US, to the role of Europe and international institutions such as NATO and the WHO and their responsibility to take action on the African continent in light of the pandemic. Even in an online setting, the chat was as lively as usual and provided students with a lot of ideas for future topics of study.
