At University College Fryslân, we understand that studying at university can be a costly experience. Depending on your personal circumstances, there are several funding options available which may help finance your university career.
2. For Dutch students: Studiefinanciering
If you are under the age of 30 and are registered in full-time or dual education at university level, you can apply for student finance. This student grant, paid by the Dutch government, is a monthly loan provided to assist you financially with your studies. You must be a Dutch national or have the same rights, depending on your residence permit or your nationality. For more information, please consult duo.nl.
3. For Frisian BA students: Frisian scholarship
The Province of Fryslân has set up a scholarship to encourage Frisian students to follow the broad Bachelor’s degree programme in Global Responsibility & Leadership at the University College of the University of Groningen (UG)/Campus Fryslân. School pupils from Fryslân who enrol in the programme can receive a three-year bursary that will cover some of their study costs. For more information, please consult the following page.
4. For Frisian students: Friese studieleen
There are still around 20 so-called Frisian loans in the province of Friesland. These Frisian loans have study funds for the support of students who want to follow a course in higher education. The number of available scholarships varies per year and per loan. For more information about applying for a financial contribution, please consult the following page.
5. For non-Dutch EU/EEA students: Student Grant
As an EEA student you are allowed to take up a part-time job in the Netherlands. If you (or your non-Dutch EEA parent or partner) work more than 56 hours a month you may be eligible for a student grant from the Dutch government. For more information please consult duo.nl.
6.For non-Dutch EU/EEA students only: Tuition Fee Loan/Collegegeldkrediet
If you are an EU/EER student and not eligible for a student grant from the Dutch government you can apply for a loan or a contribution towards the payment of your tuition fee. This is called 'Collegegeldkrediet' and the loan will be paid directly into your bank account in monthly installments. If you want more information about Collegegeldkrediet please consult duo.nl.
7. For non-EU/EEA students only: Scholarship
The University of Groningen/Campus Fryslân(CF) offers five grants to motivated students from outside the EU/EEA who apply to the BSc in Global Responsibility & Leadership(GRL) or MSc in Sustainable Entrepreneurship(SE), and show that they are committed to contributing to CF's vision and mission.
