Assistant professor for sustainability and environmental sciences

As assistant professor for sustainability and environmental sciences at Campus Fryslân, I am primarily involved in teaching courses of the Responsible Planet major. Additionally, I also teach foundation courses such as Academic Communication and co-organise the Living Lab projects for the fourth-semester students. In my courses, students learn not only how the (natural) world around them works but also how it evolved and how it may change in the future. During the Living Lab projects, students get to apply what they have learned in practise! In addition to being involved in the Responsible Planet major, I am also part of the Campus Fryslân Data Research Center.

In my research I combine biogeochemistry with data science in order to better understand the changing carbon cycle. Before working at the Campus Fryslân, I worked at the technical university of Switzerland (ETH Zurich) and worked with the Swiss federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape research (WSL).

I am a new resident of the city of Leeuwarden and thoroughly enjoy discovering the city!
