Dr. Sepideh Yousefzadeh

My name is Sepideh Yousefzadeh. I teach Introduction to Global Health in the University College Fryslân. I am originally from Iran and have been living in the Netherlands since 2010. I lived first in Maastricht where I did my PhD in Governance and Policy Analysis and in Groningen since 2013 where I worked as a postdoc in the Faculty of Spatial Sciences.

Before joining academia, I worked in international development in post conflict settings, through livelihood, health and relief programs. I have experience in working with government, Non-Government Organizations and the UN.

I have bachelor’s degree in midwifery from University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran (delivering 80 beautiful babies) and my master’s degree is in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Next to teaching in University College Groningen, I also teach in Minor Development Studies in Groningen.

Next to my career that I enjoy a lot, I am a mother, a runner and a writer. I write for children and also blog posts on policy or politics whenever I find the opportunity.
