About us Campus Fryslân Research at Campus Fryslân PhD Programme

PhD Council

The PhD Council of Campus Fryslân represents the PhD candidates and promotes their interests in the faculty, in terms of education, opportunities, wellbeing, and community, among others.

The PhD Council of Campus Fryslân was established with the goal to improve the quality of PhD training and supervision. The PhD Council represents the PhD candidates of Campus Fryslân before the Graduate School (GGCF) and external organizations. It also distributes relevant information to PhDs, and can be confidentially consulted by PhDs regarding their work and status at the faculty. In addition, the council organizes social events to facilitate social interaction between the PhD candidates and community building in Campus Fryslân. Currently the council consists of 4 PhD students from various Frisian Flagships that form our interdisciplinary faculty.

Activities

Monthly meetings with the Graduate School

Every month, we have a meeting with the Graduate School of Campus Fryslân. Here we communicate the PhD interests, address general issues and discuss the latest developments.

Bite of Science

Each month, the PhD council organizes a research lunch for PhD candidates and other staff members, during which a research related topic will be presented by one of our own PhD candidates or a guest speaker. Additionally, we organize events for education and skills acquirement.

Social events

Regularly our social officers organize social events for all PhD students. Next to having drinks, activities include pub quizzes, board games, and sharing home made meals.

Share and Care meetings

A PhD can be a stressful and sometimes lonely endeavour. For PhD candidates who want to share their concerns, the PhD council organizes regular get-togethers where thoughts, worries and apprehensions can be exchanged.
