Nominees for the LC Awards

29 May 2018

UG/Campus Fryslân selected two projects for the LC Awards: Amin Rasouli who studies Environmental and Energy Management and Guillem Belmar Viernes/Sara Gomes de Oliveira Pinho who study Multilingualism. Amin handed in his project ‘Toward a sustainable bioeconomy: Qualitive cost-effectiveness analysis of food waste biofuel production in the Netherlands’. Guillem and Sara are striving to win an LC Award with the project ‘Debunking myths? Intelligibility of Frisian for Dutch native speakers’.

The LC Awards is an initiative of local newspaper the Leeuwarder Courant (LC). Leeuwarder Courant wants to draw attention to interesting projects of students in Leeuwarden. All students with an original idea which has value for the community were welcome to apply. There is a special category for professional and academic master students.

UG/Campus Fryslân nominated two original projects with social value. The entry could be a research proposal, a case study or a part of a thesis. The nominees will continue to the LC Awards show which will take place on 12th of June at the Leeuwarder Courant. A jury will choose the best project and the winner gets a statuette, a prize of €333,33 and is invited to speak at the TEDx in October. In addition, all projects enter the competition for the ‘Readers prize’.
