In this blog post, we catch up with Annika, who completed her MSc in Sustainable Entrepreneurship and recently graduated with honors from Campus Fryslân. We delve into her take on the added value of this master's through a brief post-graduation reflection.

How effectively does the programme align with the latest trends in the Sustainable Entrepreneurship industry, considering its direction and future developments?

The whole programme builds on questioning the way we do business these days and how a future business has to look like to match what we need. During classes, we worked with up-to-date literature & papers, and were discussing new topics or latest news. Through picking our own topics in projects mostly, we also had the freedom to choose new topics and/or topics we are personally interested in.

What practical, hands-on skills has the programme equipped you with that are directly applicable in the workplace?

Through groupwork with different class members, I learned practical leadership/project management skills - especially when time is short and it's important to get to the point quickly. We also had many guest talks, giving us the opportunity to ask & learn about practical tasks.

Do you think the programme offers networking opportunities? If so, which ones?

As mentioned before, guest lectures were a big opportunity for networking. Furthermore, the UG campus is sometimes hosting events where we were able to meet people (from Deloitte e.g.). I wouldn’t say you get much connections internationally (apart from other students of course), but quite many contacts for the North of the Netherlands - also for future job opportunities afterwards!

Anything else you would like to share with prospective students?

I enjoyed my time in the Sustainable Entrepreneurship programme - the learning atmosphere was fun, challenging and brought me many new perspectives. Thanks to this master's degree, I am sure I want to keep working with sustainability and feel specialized in the topic, so I can look forward to my next chapter now!
