New Eric Bleumink Fund bursaries awarded
This year, the Eric Bleumink Fund (EBF) has awarded four scholarships to talented students from developing countries. With such a scholarship, they can continue to develop as a person and make a leading contribution to the development of their own country.
Monieb Abdelrahman Mohammed Ahmed (1991) is from Sudan and holds the biennial Master of Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Groningen. After his master, Monieb would like to return to his native country to put his acquired pharmaceutical knowledge into action. Ethiopian Yeshiwas Belay (1984) studies in the International Security Master program. His ultimate dream is to contribute to international security and conflict resolution. Tania Benita (1994) is from Indonesia and follows the Master Environmental and Infrastructure Planning. In the future, Tania wants to become a teacher. She believes that education is the most important factor in influencing the future of her own country. Nato Rubanovi (1991) is from Georgia and studies International Human Rights Law. After her study, Nato wants to improve the protection of human rights in Georgia.

Since 2000, the year of establishment, the EBF has already awarded over sixty scholarships. More than sixty young, ambitious and highly gifted people have been able to follow an additional study at the UG. Here they became familiar with the so-called 'ordinary' academic culture, real scientific libraries, and international contacts. These are things that are very normal in the Netherlands, but often lack in their country of origin.
