Alumni For alumni Alumni circles Netherlands

Groningen (Aduarderkring)

The name 'Aduarderkring' refers to a group of leading scholars of the 15th century who came together for discussions in the monastery in Aduard, also known as the predecessor of our university. The chapter was established in 2011 by five alumni, and offers an interesting network and the opportunity to give back to the alma mater by supporting a research project. During these meetings there is plenty of space to strengthen old ties and make new contacts with fellow alumni. Famous former students and scientists give a guest lecture and members of the Executive Board of the University will be present to talk about developments at the university.

Expand your professional network with former Groningers

The Groningen alumni come together twice a year: in May and November. In order to receive invitations for these events you can sign up for the mailing list.

For more information please contact the secretary via uef@rug.nl or 050 363 7595. If you are happy with the alumni events, we would also like to see that in the form of financial support for research and education of our university.

The alumni circle is important to me because: “It used to be the launching platform to development, today is is the network of shared knowledge from which I want to learn and contribute to. Furthermore, it is always nice to meet others who share the UG history with each other… and I have a lot to thank the university for”. M.J. (Max) van den Berg, (Sociology, 1969).

Alumni Commission

Together with the Alumni Relations and Fundraising department, a committee of alumni organizes events. This committee consists of the founders of the circle:

  1. Hugo Brouwer (Notary Law, 1971)
  2. Jeroen Dietvorst (Business Administration, 1999)
  3. Eddie Perdok (Business Administration, 1988)
