National Student Survey

Once the results have been compiled, the UG will study the issues that have been flagged up. The results will be analysed and discussed by UG and faculty managers, advisory committees, degree programme managers, quality coordinators, and students and staff from the programme committees and the participation councils. This cycle ensures that all of the issues raised by students are included when determining the points for improvement.

Some of these points for improvement can be taken on board fairly swiftly, such as spreading the student workload more evenly across the academic year, or adjusting the number of tests. Other improvements may take longer. Preparing students for the employment market, for example, is an important long-term theme, and we are working with Career Services to improve the transition from studying to a career. We also use the results to assess what is going well and should therefore be continued.

Specific signals are also being picked up at faculties. At the Faculty of Law, for example, the number of student advisors has been increased and a Law in Practice section has been included in the master's program, which students can also use for an internship, for example.

The NSE (National Student Survey) is a large-scale national survey in which students share their opinions on their degree programmes. The NSE is carried out by Studiekeuze123 on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, in collaboration with educational institutions. This provides a large base, making it an effective tool.

Stichting Studiekeuze123 is an initiative of student organizations ISO and LSVb and the umbrella organizations the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and the Dutch Council for Training and Education (NRTO). Taking part in the NSE involves processing some of your personal data. The UG takes the utmost care when dealing with personal data. Any information that you fill in will be analysed and processed in confidence. Your answers will not be linked to you as an individual student when the results of the NSE are reported or distributed within the UG or for the purpose of national comparisons. All of the results sent to the UG will be anonymous so that none of your answers can be linked to you personally. Lecturers, for example, will not be able to find out what you have filled in.
