Marketing and Recruitment Officer (0.8 FTE) (V25.0330)

Job description

The University College Groningen (UCG) is a faculty of the University of Groningen that started a Liberal Arts and Sciences program in September 2014. With approximately 60 motivated staff members and 400 students, we are a dynamic, highly international and well-connected community.

The UCG LAS program offers a small-scale and intensive broad Bachelor education with majors in three disciplines: humanities, social sciences and science. Through experiential learning and project-based education, our students have a unique opportunity to engage in societal challenges and approach complex problems in an interdisciplinary way. Our staff is focused on teaching innovation and research, in which they successfully apply interdisciplinary approach to socially relevant projects with impact. As a faculty, we aim to stay connected with other faculties, region and the society and expand our collaborations both locally and globally.

One of our Support Staff colleagues is moving on to a new adventure, so we’re looking for a new Marketing and (student) Recruitment Officer to join our team. It’s a social and varied role in an internationally oriented environment, with plenty of opportunities to travel, both within The Netherlands and to other countries, mainly across Europe.

Since you’ll often be representing the University at international fairs, networking events and school visits, we’re looking for someone who enjoys meeting new people and feels at ease in different cultural settings. You should be someone who naturally connects with others and who’s good at building and maintaining networks, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Because part of the role also involves taking part in large-scale recruitment events here in The Netherlands, fluency in Dutch is a must. These events often include in-depth conversations with Dutch studiekiezers and their parents, so we’re looking for someone who feels completely comfortable speaking Dutch in those settings.

As a Marketing and Recruitment Officer, you will be part of UCG’s close-knit Support Staff team of 17 people. Our team works across various areas of Educational Support, including Academic Advice, Exchange, Internships, Career Services, Administration, Secretariat, Communication, Marketing, Recruitment, Education Policy, and Facilities. Although everyone has their own main responsibilities, teamwork is at the heart of what we do and we’re always happy to help each other out when needed.

The main tasks are:

  • Represent the faculty and actively recruit students at national and international events/meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the faculty’s marketing and recruitment strategy.
  • Organise and support recruitment events, both online and in person.
  • Develop and manage engaging online and offline recruitment content and promotional materials, including newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, website articles, posters, and social media posts (both written and visual).
  • Manage various social platforms and other online environments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with student counsellors from national and international institutions to support recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

  • A completed Bachelor's degree (HBO) or relevant work experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch.
  • Great networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
  • Willingness to travel and adapt to new environments.
  • Confident presentation skills and able to engage with different audiences.
  • A team player with a flexible and positive attitude.
  • Affinity with education and research.
  • Creative mindset and up to date with online and marketing trends.
  • Experience in international higher education and communication is a plus.
