Buying for charity

The economic crisis has encouraged many charities to form alliances with businesses. Buy a certain product and the manufacturer will donate to a charity on your behalf. This could be money, but it could also be a material donation, such as a tetanus vaccination for UNICEF for every pack of nappies you buy. But does it work? And could there be a negative effect? Dr Marijke Leliveld has received a Veni grant to study this.
