Sustainable Development Goals
How UG academics and students contribute to the SDGs

Global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change call for action.

The SDGs are global goals that set the course for a better future for everyone and point the way towards a fair, sustainable world by 2030, to which everyone can contribute.

By 2030, we aim to create a sustainable world where everyone counts.

In 2015, all 193 member states of the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals apply to all countries and all people, and together they form a shared path to a better future.

The major social challenges of our time, such as climate change, health and sustainable energy, require cooperation between science, society and policy.

The University of Groningen is putting this into practice through its Research & Impact and International Strategy and Relations departments, and by engaging the Schools and faculties in the implementation of the proposed approach.
