Will you pass the Climate Exam?
On Wednesday 28 May, you can participate in the National Climate Exam. This year, the exam will be organised at 100 locations in the Netherlands and for the first time, you can participate in Groningen at the Aletta Jacobshal. Students and staff from the RUG and the Hanze are welcome to take the Climate Exam together on 28 May.
Exam time
Traditionally, May is the month of final exams. For almost 200,000 secondary school students, this is an important moment in their lives. A subject that they will definitely have to deal with during their lives will be examined for the second time this year: Climate change. The roles are reversed for the Climate Exam: mainly adults are in the exam benches.

“Climate change is happening faster than we assumed up until now. The cause – that burning fossil fuels leads to an increased greenhouse effect – is now clear to most Dutch people. The far-reaching consequences of this are often much less known. Knowledge about this is essential to make the transition to a sustainable economy. You are never too old to learn, and therefore never too old to take an exam. You don't have to study hard, participants learn a lot from the exam itself. In this way, we want to increase knowledge and offer perspectives for action. What can companies, governments, schools do, but also: what can someone do themselves. People want to feel that they can do something, and together we can do that.” Joost Brinkman, initiator of the Climate Exam of Darel Education.
