Add Your Pronouns to Your Profile Page

Good news! Following the option to include pronouns in BrightSpace, you can now also add your pronouns to your staff profile page. The Profile Page editor has been updated with an optional 'Pronouns' field, where you can easily enter your pronouns.

Once entered, your pronouns will appear next to your job title. Through the 'Visibility Settings', you can choose whether your pronouns are public or visible internally only. Providing your pronouns is completely optional.

Pronouns are the words people use to refer to others, such as he, him, she, her, they, or theirs. Adding your pronouns helps colleagues know how to address you correctly and encourages others to share theirs as well. In an international and diverse environment like RUG, it’s not always obvious how someone prefers to be addressed based on their name or photo alone.

By sharing your pronouns, you contribute to an inclusive workplace culture and show that you are an ally. It helps prevent misgendering, promotes respectful communication, and ensures colleagues feel recognized and supported. In this way, we demonstrate that we take every colleague’s identity seriously and create a workplace where everyone feels welcome.
