The Inclusive Teacher ENLIGHT workshop

Inclusive teaching is often about making small, meaningful adjustments that are both attainable and sustainable. To support this, the University of Groningen together with the University of Göttingen have developed The Inclusive Teacher, a flexible, self-paced e-learning course/workshop. This two day workshop will take place in English and focus on inclusive course design, pedagogy, assessment, and group work, offering practical strategies to make student diversity a positive resource for teaching and learning

In this two-day online (and one day in person) exchange, academic teachers will work through (self-)selected units of The Inclusive Teacher.

Through a mix of self-paced learning and small-group discussions, participants will explore inclusive teaching practices in depth, share experiences across institutional contexts, and reflect together on practical applications. The exchange includes online sessions, collaborative activities, and an optional in-person component with a complimentary lunch. Participants who complete this workshop/course will receive a Certificate of Participation.

• 20 October 2025, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (online)
• 21 October 2025, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (online + in person - location in Groningen to be confirmed)

Learning objectives:

• engage with the Inclusive Teacher framework and understand key principles and practical approaches to inclusive teaching
• share strategies, experiences, and challenges with colleagues from the University of Goettingen
• critically reflect on inclusive pedagogy, course design, assessment, and group work and how these can be adapted to diverse student populations in their respective teaching contexts
• articulate what inclusivity means for their own teaching practice and develop concrete next steps for implementing inclusive teaching in their own courses.
