Black Girl Support Collective: The Art of Slowing Down

When:Su 19-04-2026 15:00 - 18:00Where:Tammeszaal, University Library

Winner of the Grassroots Initiative Grant, Ashley Monteiro is organising a series of events with the Black Girl Support Collective — of which this is one. Black Girl Support Collective creates safe and supportive spaces for Black female students, responding to a continued need for community, belonging, and empowerment within the university.

In a study environment often characterised by high pressure and constant demands, taking time to rest and recharge is not always easy. This event highlights the importance of mental well-being and creates a safe, supportive space where students can slow down and reconnect.

During The Art of Slowing Down, participants will join a guided session led by Janet Thompson, focusing on breathwork, mindfulness, and relaxation. The techniques are accessible, beginner-friendly, and designed to support stress reduction in everyday student life.
