Jan Willem Bolderdijk

Jan Willem Bolderdijk is universitair hoofddocent aan de Faculteit Economie en Bedrijfskunde. Hij is in 2011 gepromoveerd met onderzoek op het gebied van psychologie: “Buying People: The Persuasive Power of Money.”

De vakgebieden psychologie en marketing zijn terugkomende onderwerpen in Bolderdijk zijn onderzoek. Bolderdijk focust op de maatschappelijke vraagstukken van morgen, met name in relatie tot duurzaamheid en de invloed op consumenten om duurzame keuzes te maken. Zijn onderzoek is gericht op het blootleggen van psychologische barrières die veranderingen in het consumentengedrag in de weg staan. Het consumentengedrag heeft namelijk grote invloed als het gaat om maatschappelijke problemen zoals klimaatverandering, overconsumptie en de uitputting van natuurlijke hulpbronnen.

Verder is Bolderdijk ook lid van de Young Academy Groningen, een groep getalenteerde, enthousiaste, en ambitieuze jonge RUG-wetenschappers van verschillende disciplines. De YAG wil het jonge talent van de RUG meer onder de aandacht brengen. Samen met zijn collega’s van de YAG schreef hij een boek waarbij zij jong onderzoektalent de kans gaven om mee te werken door hen uit te nodigen hun eigen onderzoeksvoorstel in te sturen en zo een bijdrage te leveren aan het boek.
