Klingenberg, Prof. Aline

Aline Klingenberg is Professor of Educational Innovation, Data Sharing and Communication Law at the University of Groningen. She is also coordinator of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in IT Law. Klinkenberg focuses, among other things, on the protection of personal data and privacy by organizations and companies. In this context, she looks at what data is used by organizations and what data is actually necessary, for example when training AI systems. ‘We already have the technological ability to collect and use all kinds of personal data, but having the ability to do something doesn't necessarily mean you should do it.’ Klinkenberg also conducts research on the intersection of privacy, personal data, and social issues. What trade-offs can and should be made regarding personal data when there is a significant societal interest at stake?
