Dutch Higher Education Guide: UG ranked second best comprehensive university in the Netherlands

The UG also has third-best bachelor's programme in the Netherlands
05 November 2026

The Dutch Higher Education Guide has designated eight bachelor’s programmes at the University of Groningen (UG) as Top Programmes. The UG as a whole shares second place with Radboud University in the Comprehensive Classical Universities category. The Dutch Higher Education Guide notes that the UG scores particularly well in the area of interdisciplinary studies.

Rector Magnificus Jacquelien Scherpen is pleased with the assessment: ‘It is a wonderful recognition of the broad knowledge we acquire as a university and share with our students. I think it’s good and important to see that students rate our education positively. After all, it will soon be up to them to contribute to addressing the many scientific and societal challenges.’
