UG Joins Forces in 4TU+ on Personal Leadership and Professional Identity

The University of Groningen (UG) has committed to broadening its partnership with 4TU by becoming a full partner in 4TU+.CEE, Center for Engineering Education.  

As part of the new CEE 2027–2030 strategy, the UG will take the lead in the theme of Personal Leadership and Professional Identity. This exciting collaboration will kick off with a project exploring how personal leadership and professional identity can be developed in today’s rapidly changing educational and professional landscape.

The project will focus on several interconnected themes, including:

• Theme 1: Mindset & Individual Adaptation
  • Personal leadership in an AI-augmented environment
  • Personal leadership in continuous learning
  • Entrepreneurship and leadership

• Theme 2: Collaboration & Experiential Learning Environments
  • Personal leadership within teamwork
  • Training equipment & Leadership

• Theme 3: Institutional Systems, Curriculum, & Measurement
  • Learning activities for leadership and identity development
  • Assessing leadership and identity development

The project will generate practical outcomes and recommendations, while creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaboration and innovation. A key highlight will be a final conference on 25 January 2027 (more information will follow), alongside workshops where teachers can share experiences, develop ideas and explore new approaches together.

We warmly invite UG teachers and other staff with teaching tasks to get involved. For example by participating in our workshops on 26 and 27 October 2026 (save the dates!) on which more information will follow, by contributing expertise or by joining the final conference.

The initiative will initially focus on engineering education, with the ambition to expand participation across other faculties.

This is an opportunity to connect with colleagues at UG and across 4TU+, exchange ideas and help shape the future of personal leadership and professional identity in education.
