Zpannend Zernike

10 September 2026

On Saturday 3 October, Groningen’s city center will be buzzing with exciting and interesting activities at various locations. Of course, there will be events at the Academy Building, but also at the University Museum, DOT, De Jonge Onderzoekers, UMCG, and the Faculty of Arts. On Sunday 4 October, the Zernike Campus is the place to be: in the Bernoulliborg, at Entrance, ZAP, Building, TNO, in the Van Doorenveste, and at many other locations. Zpannend Zernike is part of the national Weekend of Science (Weekend van de Wetenschap).

  • On Saturday 3 October, there will be many activities related to the humanities, social sciences, and medical sciences. Will you come to the mini-court? Can you come up with and draw your own invention? Will you come to take quizzes, dance, or just have a friendly chat with our robots? Extract DNA from a banana or become a language astronaut!
  • On Sunday 4 October, visit the Zernike Campus and dive into the fascinating world of natural sciences, technology, and energy. Learn all about the sun, stars, and planets. Conduct all kinds of experiments, try out the Flight Simulator, and discover how a wind turbine works.

In short, there is plenty to do and discover in Groningen at Zpannend Zernike: exciting, original, and educational, especially for kids, but feel free to bring mom, dad, grandpa, and grandma along too. They won’t be bored either!

Admission is free! The full program and all locations are listed on the Zpannend Zernike website.
