University of Groningen signs ENLIGHT agreement for joint PhD programmes

During the mid-year meeting in Galway, the University of Groningen (UG) signed the ENLIGHT Joint PhD Framework Agreement. With this agreement, the universities within the ENLIGHT network are taking an important step towards further strengthening their international research collaboration.

The agreement provides a joint framework for setting up Joint PhD programmes, in which PhD students are supervised by researchers from multiple universities. The UG sees this as an important opportunity to further expand international research networks and promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise between universities. 

Rector Jacquelien Scherpen: ‘This agreement makes it easier for PhD students and researchers to collaborate across borders. By joining forces, we are not only enhancing the quality and impact of our research, but also offering young researchers a rich international learning and working environment. In doing so, we are investing in the research of the future and in talent capable of tackling societal challenges from a European perspective.’
