The Young Academy Groningen welcomes seven new members

16 April 2026

The Young Academy Groningen welcomes seven new members. The Young Academy Groningen (YAG) is a group of talented, enthusiastic, and ambitious early career researchers from various disciplines at the University of Groningen (UG) and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). Members share a passion for science and scholarship and an interest in their broader impacts on academia and society.

The seven new researchers will be officially installed as members of the Young Academy Groningen in September 2026. During their five-year membership, they will collaborate with our current members in projects focusing on science policy, interdisciplinarity, public engagement and diversity and inclusion. We are happy to announce that the seven new members presented here will support us over the coming five years in all our endeavors.

 The new YAG members are:

  • Aranka Ballering (Faculty of Medical Sciences)
  • Bahar Haghighat (Faculty of Science and Engineering)
  • Ritumbra Manuvie (University College Groningen)
  • Paola Mian (Faculty of Medical Sciences)
  • Conor O’Driscoll (Faculty of Spatial Sciences)
  • Charissa Roossien (Faculty of Science and Engineering)
  • Merel Semeijn (Faculty of Philosophy)
