Construction of innovation centre starts at GreenWise Campus in Emmen
Construction of a new innovation centre has started at the GreenWise Campus in Emmen. This marks an important step in the further development of the campus as a place where education, research, and industry work together on sustainable innovations.
President of the Executive Board Jouke de Vries said: ‘With the development of the GreenWise Campus, we are working together with partners from education, government, and industry to build a place where knowledge, innovation, and regional development come together. For the University of Groningen, it is important to actively contribute to the future of the Northern Netherlands. The campus offers space for research, education, and entrepreneurship, and strengthens the connection between academia and society.’
The innovation centre will become a meeting place for students, researchers, and entrepreneurs. The building will provide space for research, education, and joint projects with companies from the region. The aim is to turn knowledge into practical applications more quickly and to stimulate innovation.
The GreenWise Campus focuses on themes such as the circular economy, sustainable materials, and green chemistry. By bringing together educational institutions, companies, and government bodies, the campus aims to contribute to solutions for societal challenges and to economic development in the region.
With the construction of the innovation centre, the campus will gain a central place where collaboration and knowledge exchange can continue to grow. The building is expected to be taken into use in the course of 2027.
