UG to leave the social platform X

After careful consideration, the University of Groningen has decided to withdraw the account @univgroningen from the social media platform X. We have found that X is no longer a suitable means of communication for us due to reduced effectiveness. The changing dynamics of the platform and spread of misinformation are further reasons for our departure.

The UG’s account on X will shortly become inactive but will not be deleted. We will keep our account so that we can continue monitoring it. Our existing account on Bluesky will be actively used now that X is no longer in use.
