Major Vici grant for Bernard Nijstad
Prof. Bernard Nijstad has been awarded a Vici grant by the NWO worth € 1.5 m, to be spent over the next five years on conducting research and establishing a research group. A Vici grant is one of the largest personal academic grants awarded in the Netherlands. Nijstad has been awarded the grant for his research proposal ‘Creativity in Organizations’.
Is it better to give creative employees freedom or are they in fact creative under pressure? How does this work for teams and how do organisations ultimately benefit from these creative ideas? In his Vici project Nijstad will develop an integrated theory about the creativity and innovation of individuals, teams and organizations.
Vici
NWO awards Vici grants on the basis of the researchers’ quality, the innovative nature and academic impact of their research proposal and application of knowledge. The Vici grants are intended for excellent, experienced researchers who have successfully developed a new research line and thus established themselves prominently at both national and international levels. This year there were 215 applicants for a Vici grant. A total of 32 academics were eventually awarded Vici grants.
