Anxiety and depressive disorders are severe, highly prevalent mental disorders, that can cause major impairment in day-to-day functioning. Previous research has indicated that offspring of parents with anxiety or depression are at increased risk for developing anxiety or depression themselves . The studies described in this thesis have focused on different aspects of prevention, risk factors for developing anxiety and depression in offspring and factors that can influence treatment outcome.
