Is there something inherently algorithmic in how democracy functions? And can algorithms strengthen democratic practices by making them more inclusive, responsive, and legitimate? In this talk, I argue that the answer is yes, and show how methods from mathematics and computer science can play a pivotal role in renewing democracy in our societies.
