Han Nakken Award for Kirsten van den Bosch
Kirsten van den Bosch, researcher and teacher at the Hanzehogeschool Groningen and PhD-student of our academic Tjeerd Andringa, has won the Han Nakken Prijs for best article in the field of Intellectual Diasabilities. She has been awarded this prize for her article The Role of Sound in Residential Facilities for People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities, that was published in the Journal of Policy and Practice in Intellectual Disabilities (volume, 13, Issue 1, p. 61-68). In this article, van den Bosch provides theroretical support regarding her research on the influence of the auditory environment to those with a severe and multiple mental disabilities. According to van den Bosch, better soundscapes can reduce problem behaviour. More information about this research could be found here.
