U.T.R. (Titus) Stahl, Dr

If you are interested in doing a Philosophy or PPE MA in Groningen and want to chat, please feel free to get in touch!
If you are a (prospective) PhD student who is interested in my areas of research, please get in touch with me. Unfortunately, there is very little institutional funding available at this moment in Groningen, but if there are possibilities to apply for a scholarship, there may be opportunities. If you already have a PhD position or scholarship, it is sometimes possible to do a joint supervision arrangement with another university ("co-tutelle") or arrange a research visit. Do not hesitate to ask!
I am very keen on supporting and promoting online workshops and conferences, especially with partners from outside Europe and North America to facilitate truly global cooperation between philosophers. If you work at a university outside the Global North and want to organize an online event, please get in touch with me.

From 2000 to 2005, I studied philosophy, political science, sociology and computer science in Tübingen and Frankfurt. I received my PhD in 2010 from the Goethe University in Frankfurt and Macquarie University in Sydney as a joint PhD. My PhD thesis was about the method of immanent critique in critical theory and I developed an argument based on recent theories in analytic social ontology to the effect that critical theories can rely on immanent normative potentials in social practices. A revised version of the thesis has since been published as "Immanente Kritik" in German and as Immanent Critique in English.
