Research interests

I am a Senior Assistant Professor of Social Studies Education (UD1) at the University of Groningen with a passion for combining educational experience and theory.  I am a Chair of the Gamma Cluster (History, Geography, Economics, Latin/Greek, Philosophy, Civics, and Religious Studies) and a Fellow of the Interuniversity Center for Educational Research (ICO). Moreover, I am a Board Member of the Royal Netherlands Historical Society, NRO Comenius Network Member, and Editorial Board Member of the peer-reviewed scientific journals HERJ and Dimensies.

Specialties: Citizenship education, use of AI and XR in education, perspective taking, heritage education, (student) teachers' professional development, and teaching and learning of social studies.
