dr. ir. P. (Paul) Buijs

Paul Buijs is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Operations (University of Groningen, the Netherlands). He received his MSc degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (2010) and PhD degree (2014) from that same university. He studies innovations that aim to improve the sustainability of the logistics sector. Those innovations often go against business-as-usual of many stakeholders involved in today’s supply chains. Paul’s research focuses on understanding the challenges hindering broad adoption of sustainable solutions, by being actively involved in the development, implementation, and evaluation of such solutions in urban freight transport, e-commerce logistics, and global shipping.
Paul co-authored several papers in journals such as Supply Chain Management: an International Journal, Omega, the European Journal for Operational Research, Transportation Research Part D and Part E, Flexible Services and Manufacturing, Business Strategy and the Environment, the International Journal of Operations & Production Management, the Journal of Business Logistics, and Interfaces.
