As a community ecologist I am intrigued by the diversity of life on our planet, specifically in soil and sediment ecosystems. How all these species interact with each other to form functioning ecosystems is fascinating. The main focus of my research is to understand how interactions in these complex communities will be altered by abiotic and biotic changes, and how this affects ecosystem functioning. I aim to achieve this both through my own research as a postdoc and scientific coordinator of Waddenmozaïek (www.waddenmozaiek.nl), and by bringing the experimental setup CLIMECS (www.climecs.com), developed during my PhD, to market.
