Liv Malin is currently pursuing a PhD in Energy Law at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability. In her research, she focuses on the legal aspects of large-scale offshore wind energy developments and new energy storage and transport alternatives in the North Sea. This research is funded by NWO under the PhD@Sea programme (Developing Offshore Storage and Transport Alternatives ('DOSTA')).

Prior to her PhD, Liv Malin worked as a researcher at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability. She carried out the legal research in the North Sea Energy project and the Havenschets project on the planning, production, transport and supply of (green) hydrogen in the North Sea and in Dutch port areas, respectively.

Before starting as a researcher at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability, Liv Malin obtained her first LL.M in International and European Law at the University of Gothenburg (graduated in 2017) and her second LL.M in Energy and Climate Law at the University of Groningen (graduated in 2018), both with cum laude distinction. She is bilingual in Swedish and Norwegian.
