dr. L.D. (Dorothee) Jelsma
Dorothee Jelsma is pediatric physical therapist. She is owner of the private practice for pediatric physical therapy ‘Fysie op Kids’with two other colleagues. She graduated as professional master in Pediatric Physical Therapy in 2007. She graduated as PhD at the RUG after defending her dissertation called 'Dynamic Control of Balance in Children with Developmental Coordination Disorder'. Her topics of interest are balance strategies of children; motor development; motor learning; hypermobility; motor and sport related skills of children; dual tasks in children with DCD and ADHD; Anxiety and Depression in children with DCD; Virtual Reality.
Dorothee is involved in several research projects in South Africa in cooperation with the University of Cape Town and in Brazil in cooperation with the Federal University of Sao Carlos for which she received a grant. She involved in the Exergame Ataxia Pilot Project in cooperation with the department of Pediatric Neurology of the UMCG.
