Koert van Ittersum is professor of Marketing and Consumer Well-being at the University of Groningen since 2013. He received his PhD from Wageningen University in 2001, following which he worked at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign, USA) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta) for a number of years. He (co)authored over thirty articles in such journals as the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Annals of Internal Medicine, British Medical Journal as well as other premier academic journals. Moreover, he is closely involved in the Centre for Public Health in Economics and Business (RUG) and the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health (RUG). In his research and teaching he argues and demonstrates how marketing can contribute to the well-being of consumers. Van Ittersum focuses predominantly on healthier and  more sustainable diets. He among others collaborates with all Dutch retailers to research how transparency interventions can help interested shoppers make healthier purchases while shopping for groceries.
