prof. dr. J. (Johan) Woltjer

Professor of Urban Development and Planning

Professor Woltjer focuses his research work on understanding international urban and regional development (particularly Europe and Asia), sustainable cities, and capacities for water and infrastructure management. He contributes an international and internationally comparative view to the field of urban studies, planning and geography. The impact of his research is visible through funded projects, books and articles appearing in high-impact journals, and the delivery of policy advice on issues like water and urban infrastructure. He has extensive experience as editor and a reviewer for international journals, and reviewing panels for research councils in the Netherlands, the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
