J.E.H. (Juul) Kusters, MSc

Since May 2025, Juul is working as a postdoctoral researcher, with a focus on marine spatial planning and offshore energy transition. She is involved in the Northern European Sea Basins project (EU-funded) and the ECOAMARE project (NWO-funded). She finalized her PhD thesis (titled: Planning the North Sea: Towards a strategic approach for offshore energy transition) in November 2025. This PhD research was part of the DOSTA project, where she researched the potential allocation and accommodation of new forms of offshore energy storage and transport in light of its uncertain environmental impacts, conflicting sea uses, and associated costs.

Juul holds a double degree master in Water & Coastal Management and Environmental & Infrastructure Planning from the Carl von Ossietszky University of Oldenburg and the University of Groningen (2020).
