J.C. (Juan Carlos) Pina Pardo

Dr. Juan Carlos Piña Pardo is a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Operations at the University of Groningen. He currently works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center of Excellence for Supply Chain Innovation & Transportation at KEDGE Business School (France). His research focuses on developing advanced mathematical optimization models to improve transportation and logistics systems, with a particular emphasis on urban last-mile logistics. Before joining KEDGE Business School, Dr. Piña Pardo was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), working on industry-sponsored projects and conducting research at the MIT Megacity Logistics Lab and the MIT Supply Chain Design Lab.
Dr. Piña Pardo received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in Chile. He was a visiting scholar at MIT during his Ph.D. studies, funded by the 2020 INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics Society Cross-Regional Doctoral Grant. Dr. Piña Pardo also worked as a lecturer at the PUCV School of Industrial Engineering for seven years, teaching operations research and industrial engineering. He was awarded the 2020 PUCV Distinguished Teaching Award for outstanding student evaluations during this time.
